Description
Students will read 7 text excerpts and analyze 6 political cartoons relating to the causes and end of the War of 1812 by answering 36 questions. This would be great for a sub and the answers are included where appropriate.
Sample questions include:
--What does Grundy identify as the more significant issue at hand and why?
--How does Grundy’s discussion of the West fit into his overall excerpt?
--Provide a contextually appropriate definition or identification for, “wantonly spilt.”
--Explain the relevance of France in the Federalists’ excerpt.
--Were the Federalists War Hawks or Doves and why?
--Summarize the main point of the Boston newspaper’s first paragraph.
--Explain the London point of view regarding Madison’s administration.
--Discuss the significance of articles 6 and 7 in the greater historical and political context. Why would they have been included?
--Identify and explain a similarity and a difference in the anti-war sources.
--Images D and E portray two points of view for the same event. Identify the event, and then compare and contrast the two points of view.
