Description
An easy to use resource every science teacher should have in their NGSS toolkit! This is a universal (and fun) lab report template for completing any science inquiry lab activity. This is ready to be implemented through Google Classroom or another LMS or printed out (2 pgs front to back, 4 pages total). Complete with an straightforward scoring guide checklist on the last page! There are guiding tips & prompts throughout along with an example to scaffold students along the process of NGSS's Science & Engineering Processes (SEP's).
This is a resource I created because I would have used this a lot when I was teaching! :)
Ready to assign online or print for students in class! This is formatted in Google Slides as an 8.5x11 page with uneditable student version that also includes graphic instructions for online students to insert a picture and directs students where to type in the textbox that is preformatted with blue text! Access your copy of the Google Doc in the PDF after purchasing!
The scoring guide / rubric is specifically designed to be a simple 18 point yes/no checklist with little room for grey area (because I've spent my fair share grading labs). Did the student complete the expectation of including the correct unit of measurement? Yes? Great--point earned. No? No point earned and the teacher can choose to leave additional feedback in the space provided.
This is nicely formatted to scaffold students to complete scientific inquiry suitable with NGSS processes of Science and Engineering Practices (SEP's).
Students will:
*think critically about the experiment
*identify variables
*identify units of measurement
*make a prediction
*draw a scientific model
*list materials needed along with procedural steps
*design a data table (example data table and analysis provided)
*collect data
*graph data collected
*analyze and interpret data
*discuss results
