Description

This summer themed Narrative Writing to Sources activity is wonderful for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. Use it at the end of the year or as a fun way to introduce narrative writing when the return at the beginning of the year. This will help you teach your class to use text sources to enhance their narrative writing. Use this in a whole group, small group, or centers . This easy to use resource has the whole writing process and more. This is great in class or online digital resource. Use this with my Taking Notes with Jot Dots YouTube video. It's linked right there in the lesson with a QR code. This lesson supplement can be utilized for reviewing whole class, small group, as a writing center, or simply to introduce your lesson. They will make writing easier and more enjoyable for your kids. You may also want to check out my Writing Narrative Text video with your class. I recommend downloading this activity, and then uploading it to your favorite digital platform. This writing process is classroom tested, and will improve your class' narrative writing.

This activity includes:

-a note taking page for organizing facts from 2 sources. QR codes for the Taking Notes with Jot Dots video, and QR codes linking to 2 sources that can be used for the prompt

-a note taking page without the QR codes for the sources in case you want to have ore flexibility with how you use that part of the resource (3 suggestions are on the Teacher's Guide)

-a "My Organizer" page with tips for how to plan and organize their creative ideas with the facts they found in their sources to make a well organized narrative

-2 final draft pages (the first of which has the fun principal's summer adventure prompt on it)

-1 anchor chart with reflective questions for revising

-1 anchor chart with reflective questions for editing

-1 teacher guide with ideas for planning and alternative options for using the 2nd note taking guide
