Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 Text and Image Analysis

Students will read and analyze excerpts from the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 by answering 15 questions and responding to 5 prompts for 5 political cartoons. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub! 

Sample questions include:
--How did the act apply to someone who brought a Chinese laborer into America? Why might the act have been extended to those individuals?
--Explain why the repercussions discussed for the violations in Sec. 7 are greater than those in Sec. 2. 
--Why do you think Sec. 14 was included in the act?
--Why would some business owners or entrepreneurs NOT want Chinese laborers excluded from America? 
--Infer what the impact of this act would mean for the Chinese community already in America.
