Example Preschool Christmas Devotion:
A Mother’s Song
Lesson Learned: Mary was happy when she found out she would be Jesus' mom.
Materials Needed: red, white, and green construction paper, marker, scissors, glue
Bible Verse: Luke 1:46-55
Talking Points: An angel told Mary that she would one day soon become Jesus' mother. She was probably very happy and excited to know that she would be Jesus' mom. Maybe she was a little nervous too. After she heard the news, she sang a song to praise God to thank Him for honoring her with such a special job.
Did you know God has a special job for each and every one of us? He wants us to be His hands and feet and to tell the world about Him and His Son. Just like Mary, we can be happy God has this special job for us.
Questions:
- Why was Mary singing?
- What was she happy about?
- Can you think of some people you'd like to share Jesus' birthday story with today or this week?
Activity:
Handprint Wreath
Have the child trace his/her hands several times on both the red and green construction paper. Cut out the handprints and then glue them in a circle on the white construction paper like a wreath. Write the names of people you can share the Christmas story with on the handprints.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we are so excited to be celebrating Jesus' birth this month. Just like Mary, we want to praise and glorify You every day and do Your will. Help us to know Your will for us today. Amen!
Christmas is such a special time with young children. Make the most of this holiday season by staying focused on Jesus!

Example Preschool Easter Devotion:
Palm Sunday
Lesson Learned:
Jesus enters Jerusalem for the last time before His death.
Materials Needed:
green paper, scissors, pencil
Bible Verse:
Matthew 21:1-11
Talking Points:
We are starting the celebration of a very special week, called Holy Week. Holy Week is a time that we can celebrate Jesus' life and death and resurrection
(when Jesus is brought back to life) as we get ready to celebrate Easter. God had a plan for Jesus, and that plan was that Jesus would come down from Heaven and save
all those who believe in Him.
In these verses, we see Jesus entering Jerusalem for the very last time. Jesus and His friends traveled a long way to get to Jerusalem, and when they got there, Jesus told His friends to find Him a baby donkey so that He could ride it into town. The friends listened to Jesus, found the donkey, and brought it to Him.
Jesus rode the donkey into town, and the people rejoiced and waved palm branches at Him when they saw Him. God always wants us to rejoice when we think of Him and His Son, Jesus. Jesus is the reason we can go to Heaven and that is why He died on the cross and was brought back to life later. Hosanna!
Questions:
- What kind of animal did Jesus ride into town?
- Have you ever ridden a horse or donkey?
- Were the crowds excited to see Him?
- Why do you think they were excited to see Him?
Activity:
Cut out an outline of a large, green leaf. Draw several lines on either side of the leaf so the child can cut them out. Wave the leaves together and shout, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna!”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we are so grateful that You sent Your Son to show us the way to Heaven. Place Your words in our hearts and minds as we celebrate Holy Week and
Easter. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Amen!
Easter is such a special time with young children. Make the most of this Easter season by staying focused on Jesus!
These activities will help you stay focused on Jesus during the Easter season and will start planting seeds of faith in the littlest believer.
