Students will read excerpts from Marbury v. Madison under John Marshall and answer 15 questions of varying degrees of difficulty. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!
Sample questions include:
--Explain how this court case connects the presidencies of Adams and Jefferson.
--How was Marbury’s right violated as determined by Marshall?
--Identify what this case did for separation of powers/checks and balances.
--What is the main point of the 6th paragraph?
--Explain the court’s role in resolving whether or not a piece of paper should have been delivered and then enforcing the words on the paper.
--What did it imply either about the nature of the case or of the historical context that this was a unanimous decision?
