Description
Texas History students will read a brief background on the hurricane that devastated Galveston, Texas in 1900 and a first hand account of the experience. They will answer 10 questions and analyze 9 images based on 3 sets of provided prompts. This would be great for a sub and the answers are included where appropriate.
Sample questions include:
--Discuss why some people didn't see the danger they were in, or were reluctant to leave when the danger made itself known.
--Using context clues, give at least 4 examples of what some of the "debris" would have been.
--In what ways did Galveston's surviving residents try to prevent such damage from recurring?
--Explain why the corpses posed a predicament for Galveston's surviving residents.
