Description

Students read and analyze the Monroe Doctrine by answering 12 questions, responding to 4 writing prompts for 3 related images, and completing a task for 2 other images. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Using context clues, do you think Monroe thought the "extraordinary moderation" was good or bad for Spain and Portugal's South American colonies and why?
--Identify the sentence where Monroe declares America's neutrality in European affairs.
--What would cause America to "make preparation for [its] defense?"
--Summarize the "Our policy in regard to Europe" paragraph in 4 sentences or less to demonstrate understanding.
--With America determined to remain neutral in European affairs, why would it want to be the dominant power in its own hemisphere?
