Description
Students will read the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution from the Vietnam War during LBJ's presidency and answer 12 questions (10 academic and 2 creative) to demonstrate an understanding of the document. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!
Sample questions include:
--What instigated the need for the document?
--Inferring from the historical context, if the United States intended to “let these people work out their destinies in their own way,” how did it justify its presence and activity in the region?
--At what point would this resolution cease to be a driving force in foreign policy?
--On a scale of 1-10, how well does this document justify/defend the course it allows the United States to take? Explain your answer fully.
