Description
Students will read 2 primary sources on the Boston Tea Party from the American Revolution (Revolutionary War) and answer 12 questions for one and 17 for the other. They will then analyze 5 images by responding to 7 prompts and completing a creative task. Lastly, there are 4 extension tasks for students to choose from. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub! ***UPDATED to include a page with 5 ideas for implementation.***
Sample questions for the text analysis include:
--Explain the connection between the French and Indian War and the colonists getting closer to declaring independence.
--Why do you think the anti-tea actions taken in Boston are more widely remembered than those in Philadelphia, Charleston, and New York?
--Why do you think "no attempt was made to resist" [the patriots]?
--What purpose would it have served Hewes and others in his situation to only know Leonard Pitt’s name?
--Compare and contrast the emotions you think the men on board the ships felt as they prepared for the evenings actions and the next morning when they were beating the tea with paddles to completely destroy it.
--What does the collection of people described say about the cause at hand?
--Citing evidence from the text, which side of the debate was Mr. Rotch on?
--To what extent can this account be considered impartial and why?
