Description

Students will read and analyze excerpts of the majority and 2 dissenting opinions of Korematsu v. US by answering 14 questions of varying degrees of difficulty. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub.

 Sample questions include:
--Why was the protection against espionage escalated to exclusion?
--Citing from the text and inferring from the historical context, how did Black justify the exclusion of the group as a whole and not individual Japanese-Americans?
--What might have been the purpose of the citizenship statements?
--How does Murphy explain/defend his dissent?
--Identify and explain the greatest similarity and greatest difference between the two dissenting opinions.
