Description

Students will read one page of excerpts from Marshall's opinion from the Supreme Court case of McCulloch v. Maryland and answer 12 questions of varying degrees of difficulty. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--What does Marshall reassure Americans of in the first paragraph?
--Why is the reference to the lack of the word “expressly” in the 10th Amendment relevant to Marshall’s thought process?
--Make a connection between the powers explicitly included in the Constitution and that of the bank, then describe its importance.
--What does it imply that this was a unanimous decision? If there had been a dissenter, what might have been the main point/argument of the dissenting opinion?
--Should this be considered a landmark Supreme Court case, why or why not?
